We have had another wonderful week of learning in Tarka Class, with lots of exciting activities across our curriculum.

This week, the new reception children began taking part in Drawing Club with KS1, it has been fantastic to see their creativity and imagination flourish. Inspired by The Gingerbread Man, the children created some amazing drawings and developed their own imaginative stories. They thoroughly enjoyed sharing their ideas and bringing the familiar tale to life in new and exciting ways.

To round off our learning, the children became bakers and made their very own gingerbread men to take home. The classroom was filled with the delicious smell of freshly baked gingerbread, and the finished creations looked absolutely fantastic. We hope they tasted just as good as they smelled!

In History, we have started exploring our local area and learning about how places change over time. The children compared photographs of Highampton, Bude, and Okehampton from the past with pictures of the same places today. They enjoyed spotting similarities and differences and discussing how these villages and towns have developed over the years.

We also investigated how everyday life has changed by looking at farming, cars, and fashion through time. The children were fascinated by the differences between old and modern vehicles, farming equipment, and clothing styles. These discussions helped us to develop our understanding of the past and how life has changed for people over generations.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and curiosity the children have shown this week and look forward to another exciting week of learning ahead! 😊

A Brilliant First Week Back in Tarka Class!

What a fantastic first week we have had in Tarka Class!

We would like to say a huge welcome to all of our new Reception children. They have absolutely astonished us with how quickly they have settled into school life and become an important part of our Tarka Class family. We are so proud of the confidence, enthusiasm and resilience they have shown during their first few days at school.

This week, we have enjoyed getting to know one another and learning all about our new classmates. The reception children have loved sharing special items from home and talking about the things that make them unique. Over the coming weeks, we will continue exploring their wonderful 'All About Me' boxes and discovering even more about each child’s interests, family and experiences.

We have also started our new blocks of learning. In Science, we have begun our new topic, Seasonal Changes, where we will be exploring the signs of seasonal change and learning about the world around us throughout the year. In PE we have begun to increase our gross and fine motor skills to strengthen our core and fingers to help our handwriting, alongside this we will be concentrating on locomotion, agility and co-ordination.

It has been a wonderful start to the school year, and we are incredibly proud of all the children for their hard work, enthusiasm and positive attitudes.
